Manchester Council Endorses Lib Dem Call to Support Jodrell Bank Campaign12.00.00am GMT Wed 12th Mar 2008 Gorton North Councillor Jackie Pearcey yesterday wrote to Council Leader Richard Leese urging that the Council gives backing for the campaign to save Jodrell Bank. At today's Executive meeting, it was unanimously agreed that the Council will lobby against the closure plans. Cllr Pearcey said today: "Manchester City Council recognised the importance of Sir Bernard Lovell's innovative work at Jodrell Bank by making him a Freeman of the City. I am glad they have agreed with my proposal to help campaign to make sure Jodrell Bank stay open." Ends....
