Simon was first elected to the City Council in 1992, now representing the Withington ward. He serves as Opposition Finance Spokesperson on the Council's Executive Committee, having completed four years as a Scrutiny Committee Chair (on the Economy, Employment and Skills Scrutiny Committee, and previously the Physical Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee). Simon also sits on the Audit Committee. He works as North West Liberal Democrat Regional Media Co-ordinator. Simon is a school Governor at Mauldeth Road Primary locally. He serves as trustee of Withington Civic Society, and Ladybarn Community Centre. Simon enjoys working with local people for the benefit of the community.
