"The Council should apologise for letting down the people of Manchester" says Lib Dem Leader Simon Ashley
Commenting on today's report by the Independent Electoral Commission, Manchester Lib Dem Leader Simon Ashley said today,
"The independent Electoral Commission criticises the Council is for not having enough staff on the polling stations, having polling districts that were too large, and for not acting till it was too late. Given these criticisms, I think the Council should apologise for letting down the people of Manchester."
Cllr Ashley added,
"I have written to the Returning Officer to ask him to review the City's polling district, and suggest that the Council sign up to the Electoral Commission's best practice regarding staff numbers and the size of polling districts. I hope the Council will learn from its mistakes this time."
