Leese return is mistake: Lib Dems

"Richard's return will embarrass the City"- Simon Ashley

Commenting on the return of Cllr Leese as Leader of the City Council, Lib Dem leader Simon Ashley said today,

"The Liberal Democrats in Manchester didn't use Richard's situation in our election leaflets, and it is hard not to feel sympathy for what he and his family have been through."

"However, I wrote to Richard some weeks ago to urge him not to return, as it would embarrass the City. Violence is wrong, and to have a Council Leader with a police caution for assault sends out completely the wrong message to Manchester's victims of crime."
