Christmas lights are coming to Hyde Road and Gorton District Centre in East Manchester
Gorton's Liberal Democrat Councillors can today exclusively reveal that, for the first time ever, Christmas lights are coming to Hyde Rd and Gorton District Centre. The lights will be installed and turned on by the start of December. Funding has come from several sources, including Councillor's Cash Grants, Manchester Highways, Manchester Markets and the Gorton 100 Steering Group. Local businesses are also being approached to contribute.
Gorton North Councillor Wendy Helsby said:
"This is great news for Gorton, and a fitting way to round off Gorton's 100th anniversary of coming into Manchester."
Gorton South Councillor John Bridges added:
"The Local Councillors are happy to help fund something that will help local businesses and build on Gorton's great community spirit."
Cllr Wendy Helsby is delighted that Gorton's Christmas Lights are "on the way" !
