Cllr Donaldson's amendment called for a lifelong commitment to support current and former military personnel living with post traumatic stress disorder.

At Liberal Democrat Conference in Bournemouth, Cllr Iain Donaldson from Manchester Burnage successfully moved an important amendment to the Party's motion on honouring the military covenant.

The amendment called for a lifelong commitment to support current and former military personnel living with post traumatic stress disorder.

John Leech MP, who has supported the fundraising efforts of Combat Stress in his Manchester Withington Constituency, said after the debate:

"The national party support for Cllr Donaldson's amendment shows the commitment amongst Liberal Democrats to supporting our troops, and that includes after they leave service."

Cllr Iain Donaldson added:

"Day in, day out, women and men in our armed forces place their lives on the line for us. We must honour the commitment and service of our troops. This is our lifelong duty."
