Liberal Democrats Believe that Sacked Nurse Karen Reissmann Should Be Reinstated
Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg has today called on the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust to reinstate sacked nurse Karen Reissmann.
On a visit to Manchester last November, Nick Clegg attended a march in support of Karen Reissmann, and spoke out about her treatment.
Calling for the new Chief Executive of the Trust to reconsider their decision, Nick Clegg said:
"The behaviour of the NHS Trust in this case has been nothing short of appalling."
"The support this case has attracted locally shows the depth of feeling amongst the people of Manchester about what is happening to their NHS. Karen has spent twenty years caring for local people. In 21st century Britain no one should lose their job for speaking their mind in this way."
Nick Clegg concluded:
"The first act of the new Chief Executive should be to reinstate Karen Reissmann."
