Cllr Marc Ramsbottom Campaigned Against these Inappropriate Plans for Manchester's Castlefield
Local residents and friends of Castlefield were celebrating after the Council's Planning Committee finally rejected unpopular plans to demolish the former Jackson's Wharf pub and build a seven storey building at the site. City Centre Cllr Marc Ramsbottom has consistently opposed these inappropriate plans.
This was Peel Holdings third attempt to get planners to approve controversial plans for a new 116 apartment building.
City Centre Liberal Democrat Councillor Ramsbottom attended the Planning Committee, together with local residents, to speak out against the plans. He described them as "totally out of character for a Conservation area". He later thanked residents for their hardworking campaign.
All members of the Planning Committee voted to reject the plans, apart from the Labour Chairman who voted in favour. Now residents have been warned to face an appeal by Peel Holdings, who may take their case to the Planning Inspectorate.
"We will keep residents fully informed of any developments, and make sure that if there is an appeal, Residents, Councillors and the Town Hall oppose it," said Marc.
