Gorton South Cllr Glover Welcomes Take-away Rejection on Reddish Lane
Gorton South Liberal Democrat Councillor Charles Glover today welcomed the decision of the Planning Inspectorate to reject the appeal for 19 Reddish Lane to be changed from a flat to a Fast Food take-away. The Planning Inspector found that the proposal would harm the living conditions in nearby properties.
Cllr Glover said:
"This is a victory for common sense and local people. I now urge the Council and New East Manchester to talk to local people and come up with a sustainable plan to regenerate Reddish Lane with a range of shops and businesses, rather than allow the area to become overrun with Fast Food outlets."
The planning inspector's report states: "The benefits of the proposal development would not outweigh the damage it would cause to the local community by harming the living conditions of nearby occupiers."
