Manchester Liberal Democrats Believe that Sacked Nurse Karen Reissman Should Be Reinstated
Lib Dem Leadership hopeful Nick Clegg MP has taken time out to support sacked mental health nurse Karen Reissman. Nick spoke in support of Karen and her situation in the Lib Dem Leadership Hustings at Manchester Town Hall on Saturday before joining Karen at the protest at Manchester's Peace Gardens.
Nick Clegg MP said:
"I am appalled at the fact that Karen has been sacked for speaking her mind. She has given 20 years of her life to caring for the people of Manchester and the way she has been treated is disgraceful. I congratulate the Lib Dem Group in Manchester for supporting Karen's fight to be reinstated."
Lib Dem Leader in Manchester Councillor Simon Ashley said:
"Nick was disgusted and made a special point of it during his speech to party members. On finding out about the protest he insisted on going to show his support for Karen. The Trust ought to reinstate Karen Reissmann, end this dispute and concentrate on trying to improve services for Manchester's people."
