Manchester Lib Dem Housing spokesperson Cllr Iain Donaldson today won concessions from Labour's Town Hall bosses on Home Improvement Loans. Changes to the existing policy were made at the monthly meeting of the Council's top-level Executive Committee.
Iain made two suggestions that the Director of Housing agreed to consider:
1) That no-one be disadvantaged by the new policy
2) That there be no charges for copies of the policy.
Cllr Donaldson also called for a politician to take the decision when an exception to the policy is made, but Labour's Town Hall bosses refused to accept responsibility.
Cllr Donaldson said today:
"I am glad the Director agreed to look at these two areas again. These changes will improve the quality of life for Manchester residents and help tackle energy poverty in the city."
