"Remploy Will Continue to Provide an Invaluable Resource to Disabled People" - John Leech MP

November 13, 2007 12:00 AM
Last year Remploy helped over 5000 disabled people into sustainable employment

John Leech MP has Supported Remploy Workers

Manchester MP John Leech is delighted at the news that Remploy will no longer seek to close their factory in Wythenshawe.

John Leech MP stated:

"Remploy is recognised as a leading provider of employment services for disabled services, and the planned closure of their Manchester site would have meant a significant number of job losses for disabled people."

"I am pleased that a consultation with trade unions has led to the decision that the factory will remain open."

John Leech MP took up the cause of the workers of Remploy when he backed a Parliamentary Motion in May expressing concern at the planned closures. In September, John Leech MP spoke at a rally outside the factory and joined Manchester workers in protest.

John Leech MP will continue to campaign for Remploy workers elsewhere in the UK who still face the threat of redundancy.
