A row has broken out after stars from ITV's Coronation Street were paid £9,000 of Manchester Taxpayers' money to appear at a Conference on what it means to be a good Mancunian.
The 2015 Manchester Conference which took place this weekend was about the way forward for Manchester and especially "improving health, work and training opportunities and having safer communities."
But Liberal Democrat Group Secretary Councillor Paul Shannon doesn't believe that taxpayers got value for money:
"I'm not convinced it's worth the gimmick of spending £9,000 booking already-wealthy actors to promote this event. These payments seem like a waste of taxpayers' money."
