Gorton South Councillor Simon Ashley has asked the Manchester Transport Authority to reconsider its plan to cancel 188 bus services on the Ryder Brow estate in Gorton.
Cllr Ashley was contacted by local pensioners who used the service but will now have to walk to Levenshulme Road to catch the bus. A 300-name petition opposing the change has been submitted to Transport Leaders.
Cllr Ashley said today:
"It would take two minutes for the 188 to cover the length of Ryder Brow Road, and that would make the 188 more accessible to about a thousand of my constituents on the the Ryder Brow and Dean Road estates. This cut in services is unnecessary and is not supported by my constituents."
Ends.
