Manchester Liberal Democrats have "called in" controversial plans to build a new King David Nursery and Car Park on green open space at Heaton Park.
Councillors were concerned about the poor quality of the report, the lack of other options considered and the principle of building on green space at Heaton Park.
The report will be considered by the Children and Young People's Scrutiny Committee on the 19th of July.
Education spokesperson Alison Firth said today,
"We know that these plans are provoking controversy locally, and we know there is a need for a new school, but we want the Council to have considered every alternative before deciding to build on green open space. We don't think they have, yet."
