Speaking in the House of Commons on an NHS Dentistry debate, Manchester Withington MP John Leech said that "successive governments have failed NHS dentistry". He called for the government to "completely renegotiate the contract with dentists."
Currently, under 50% of people are registered with an NHS dentist, and John Leech highlighted the problems across South Manchester. He gave an example of a constituent who had twice been told he could no longer stay on an NHS list - first by his Didsbury dentist and then by Cheadle Dentist Practice.
John Leech said, "The way it is going, most people will not be able to access the service; fewer and fewer people will benefit from NHS dentistry, unless there is a radical shake-up."
