Cllr Bernadette Newing hands over a retirement present to local postoffice managers.
Local residents in Abbey Hey have expressed their thanks to the post master and post mistress who have served their community for generations.
The closure of the Abbey Hey post office came about as a result of the Post Office Reinvention Scheme, which has seen the closure of almost a third of the City's post offices.
However, despite their anger at the closure, local residents felt that the loyal service that they have received was worth a big thank you from the community.
Cllr Bernadette Newing (seen presenting a bouquet and substantial thank you present from the local community) stated "This closure should never have happened. It would be far better if we were presenting a retirement present with their successors here."
"We wish our former post office managers a long and happy retirement, and will miss them greatly."
